Data Distribution System
The Company-wide Implementation and Enhancement project represents significant expansion of data distribution systems for new stakeholders and new user communities across the company. The project supports processes of retention of metadata and providing end user with link to the actual data in retrieval systems. End users include various groups – internal users like engineers and users considered as suppliers. User community distribution – worldwide. Suppliers should have an ability to navigate through metadata for data to be distributed to them, search using various criteria, view and download documents from the client’s various systems (Data retrieval, content management, etc).
The Solution:
Luxoft team started working on this project from redesign of the existing data distribution application. Initially this application was developed for Mainframes using Fortran language in 70th. Luxoft experts are working closely with the client to define requirements and architecture. As a result of this redesigning, web-based system was developed and successfully implemented. It has two main subsystems:
- The first subsystem stores current and historical metadata and distribution to them. The subsystem is an approved authoritative source to identify & maintain distribution requirements and distribute physical and digital product definition data to internal company personnel, external company partners, and suppliers. It is currently implemented on 5 sites.
- The second subsystem is considered to be the external supplier’s view of Product Definition Data (ie drawings, document, specification, etc) Distribution. It is considered as an approved authoritative source for change notification and access to PDD. The subsystem provides viewing, downloading, tracking and reporting of product definition data.
