Document Authoring System

Client was looking for the set of tools that would be able to work together with Electronic Maintenance and Operational Data authoring and publishing system and help to achieve the following objectives:

To move away from document paradigm to information paradigm, from page-oriented formats of maintenance documentation to more efficient, effective and direct content-oriented formats.

To organize the fragments storage and provide an interface for their interaction with users’ applications.

To allow on-line assembly of the well-formed document based on various information fragments stored in the repository, according to the customizable needs of the end user of the document,

To control authorization of the end user to access the requested set of data,

To allow integration with transformation and rendering systems, ensuring integrity and security of the information.

The Solution:

Working closely with the client, the Luxoft team designed and developed the Fragment Repository system. Fragment Repository system is aimed to store and manage fragments of client’s authoring framework documentation. According to client’s requests the system builds a document by means of searching and integrating separate data items which are stored in the system repository.

Basic system concepts:

Ensures the storage of fragments, the contents of each fragment being kept as a separate file;

Provides an external high performance interface for user programs to fetch, add and delete fragments;

Provides means of fragments locking to ensure correct work order;

Provides facilities to run a list of system users.
