Excelian are pleased to announce that it recently delivered another successful Murex Binary upgrade for a major financial institution in Australia.

The client went from version 3.1.21 to 3.1.29 of Murex's MX.3 platform in order to improve platform stability, fix defects and access new enhancements, particularly the new GUI.  MX.3 provides the client with full straight through processing (STP) from Front to Back Office for FX, FX Options and Commodities products, therefore, regular upgrades are imperative to meet growing business demand and changing regulatory requirements.  “The client understands that regular binary upgrades are critical to stay current and take advantage of new features that can be commercialised by the business. But to undertake regular upgrades you need to have robust testing frameworks that enable highly efficient and repeatable test processes through high levels of automation” says Martijn Thomassen, Project Manager and Principal Consultant for Excelian.

Excelian delivered the upgrade with a project team of just eight specialist consultants from multiple locations (including our Offshore Delivery Centre in Cape Town) who also utilised Excelian’s Smart Suite technology for automated testing and reconciliation. “Smart is our leading-edge testing solution” states Thomassen. “The Murex plug-in for Smart Suite is used on many engagements by our project teams. Using Smart Suite we were able to quickly find defects and regressions and were given early opportunity to remediate them.” Smart Suite now forms part of a long term testing strategy that will allow the client to receive future upgrades more regularly and deliver them both cheaper and faster.

After a very successful go-live, the client continues to work with Excelian on a number of tactical and strategic initiatives. “We were chosen to work with the client for the implementation of the Murex binary upgrade due to the quality of our global team, our expertise in both Murex and our track record of delivering repeatable testing frameworks and processes that ensure future upgrades can be run in a fraction of the time previously experienced.” says Mark Jolley, Head of Excelian in Australia.
