From small startups to large enterprises, nearly 50,000 healthcare technology-focused executives gathered in the Venetian-Palazzo-Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. They ended up filling the main floor and multiple conference rooms the size of air hangers. And while every business had something different to offer, we all observed one thing: the advent of the healthcare revolution and transition into the digital age.
Our observations at HIMSS18:
• The entire healthcare eco-system is at a tipping point – The major takeaway from this event was how massive the focus on digital disruption within healthcare actually is. Whether it's hospitals, insurance, pharma or medical technology, business models are embracing the digital possibilities in the same way Amazon jumped into the healthcare sector, or how Lyft and Uber are disrupting taxi and ambulance services.
• Connecting the data – Everyone in the healthcare eco-system wants the same data, and new technology is available to connect the dots for providers and payers alike. It’s how businesses will thrive as the healthcare industry dives deeper into the digital realm.
