Modern User Experience
As the need for modern UI/UX becomes critical for companies to keep their employees engaged in the workplace and foster effective collaboration, Atlassian is looking for new ways to improve the look and feel of their products. Jurgen Spangl, Atlassian’s Head of Design, presented Atlassian’s new UI concept, which will be applied to all Atlassian products in the near future, starting from the hosted versions.
This new Atlassian UI will have a lightweight modern interface, with only key functions visible. The other functions will be available with just a second click. There will also be a new simplified navigation layout called “Atlassian Home”, which will be launched across all of their Atlassian tools and implemented across desktops, browsers, smartphones and tablets.
This new UI will support further penetration and support for non-engineering business areas where end-user experience and usability cannot be compromised.
Enterprise Enablement: Data Centers
Atlassian continues to extend its offering for enterprises by making investments into enterprise ready Data Center versions of their products, and extending end-user enterprise functionality. In addition to Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Desk and Bitbucket Data Center versions already available, Atlassian has moved HipChat Data Center to public beta and has moved Crowd Data Center into a private beta. With that movement, almost all classic Atlassian products provide Data Center versions.
Data Center versions allow clients to get reliable, high performing products, as well as reaching zero downtime upgrades, which makes Atlassian a pretty solid offering for middle and large enterprises.
It’s clear Atlassian is going to get a significant portion of this market by convincing large numbers of promising small enterprises of 500 to 1000 users to upgrade their licenses to Data Center versions with zero or very moderate uplift in pricing. In the future, these clients will grow significantly and become large loyal Data Center customers.
Enterprise Enablement: Clouds
Migrating to the cloud is becoming a reality of modern IT infrastructure. Many large enterprises are looking to reap the benefits of migrating their IT infrastructure into the cloud. To this end, Atlassian hugely invests to simplify its products’ transition into main cloud platforms. For example, Amazon Web Services Atlassian offers Amazon Quick Starts and Performance Testing frameworks for their most popular products. Moreover Atlassian has announced that all Atlassian internal IT infrastructure will be migrated into Amazon Web Services.
Enterprise Enablement: Data Migration
One more step towards this all-inclusive enterprise is to adopt data migration and the functionalities between different instances of Atlassian tools. It will allow enterprises to significantly increase the efficiency of Atlassian management tools across the organization as well as to consolidate Atlassian instances. All these will result in a significant reduction of Total Cost of Ownership and an increase in business efficiency in project management and collaboration using Atlassian products.
Enterprise Enablement: Project & Portfolio Management
Atlassian has extended enterprise end user functionality, e.g. in the portfolio management area, with a new program level added to Jira Portfolio.
Due to the acquisition and integration of Trello’s platfrom, Atlassian products provide seamless project and portfolio management to enterprises and beyond. Trello is a very simple, yet very powerful project management tool for people who need to manage tasks, projects and business initiatives. It provides a clear and simple interface with a fantastic user experience, which makes it perfect for managing projects across the whole of an organization, including HR, Marketing, Sales and Operations.
Enterprise Enablement: DevOps
Atlassian has become the preferred partner in the DevOps movement for enterprises. The latest release of the distributed version control platform Bitbucket has introduced Git hooks and Smart Mirroring for the Bitbucket DataCenter. The latest release of integration and release management platform Bamboo introduces “configuration as a code” functionality. All these recent updates has moved Atlassian’s DevOps offering ahead of the competition significantly, making Atlassian the “DevOps platform of choice” for large distributed teams within enterprises.
