Vivek Jain Baraiya is a Murex Datamart Expert working at Excelian Luxoft Financial Services. He specializes in Murex Datamart and Risk Reporting modules.
While working at Excelian, Vivek has been given the opportunity to relocate from Singapore to Sydney, Australia.

Can you talk a little bit about your experience and journey before Excelian? What is your background?

Before joining Excelian through the acquisition, I had been working at derivIT since 2011. I relocated to Australia from Singapore in June 2018.

What do you like most about Excelian?

I actually wanted to become a part of Excelian since 2010, when I interviewed with the company. However, at that time, working in Singapore was a priority for me, and Excelian was not present there yet. I like the whole experience of working here: the premises, the benefits and, most of all, the team. My colleagues are real Murex professionals, and we have the opportunity to work with best practices in this field. We are working as a team and always help each other. It is like working as a part of a big global family here.

What other opportunities has working at Excelian opened up for you?

I would like to learn new skills and master new responsibilities. We are expecting several new opportunities to appear in the coming months that will definitely help me improve myself.

Was the relocation process easy for you?  How did Excelian support you in your journey?

Despite the fact that the application process for an Australian visa was quite challenging and took around four months for me, the actual relocation was quite easy. Excelian uses a unified global process for relocation, so everything is fine-tuned and efficient. From booking tickets to getting a relocation package, it was a good experience for me. I also have to mention that the HR team helped me a lot at all stages of the relocation process.

What are your impressions about Australia and your new position?

Australia is a great country: here I found the exact lifestyle I was looking for previously. As for the position, I am eager to take on more responsibilities and grow professionally.

What does your typical day look like?

I am lucky to have a flexible schedule and also can work from home if needed. Work-life balance is really good here.

Does your family like living in Australia?

Yes, absolutely. There are so many things they can do here, and they are really happy about it.

Where do you see yourself in three to five years?

I would really like to improve my skills and become an account manager for a few clients here.

What would your advice be for those who want to build their career at Excelian and move to Australia?

If you want to get away from a hectic urban lifestyle to a more balanced environment, Australia is a great option for that. Here you can explore, grow (both personally and professionally) and, at the same time, bring peace and quiet into your life.
