We used our hands-on experience with Calypso upgrade projects to establish best practices for cross-version migration. They later became the foundation for Luxoft’s Project Simplify framework and toolkit.
Project Simplify streamlines upgrades in three vital steps:
- Upgrade to a compatible version (v16 or newer) and set up test automation (3-9 months). We ensure this stage’s success with a holistic approach to infrastructure, code refactoring, test automation and DevOps
- Complete monthly rebasing (2-4 weeks). Once Calypso releases a new update, your system will be ready for implementation. This stage involves automated installation, artifacts comparison, and custom code refactoring. Also, it involves hardware and software verification, automated validation, UAT and regression
- Perform major version upgrades (every 2 years). Upgrading to new major stable releases becomes more accessible and cost-efficient with settled monthly Calypso updates
