New York, April 25 2006 – Luxoft, the global provider of IT outsourcing services, today announced that it is the first company in Eastern Europe, and the first offshore software development company in CIS to receive ISO 27001:2005 certification for state-of-the-art processes dealing with information security threats and issues.
The certification, by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, signifies Luxoft’s dedication to strong security practices with processes designed to prevent future threats. In the auditing process, Lloyd’s noted the outstanding level of security organization throughout all offices, departments, and positions. The new standard, "ISO 27001:2005 Information technology – Security techniques – Information security management systems – Requirements," replaces BS 7799, a previous standard that Luxoft had met. Luxoft operates, maintains and improves its security systems and processes for all its clients, and will roll out its policies, procedures and training to the new employees and offices added with the acquisition of ITCI, announced last week.
According to industry analyst and security author, Kevin Beaver, CISSP, Principle Logic, “Becoming certified in these information security practices adds that extra value that can place most organizations ahead of their counterparts and/or competition.”
“IT security is extremely important to our clients, who have sophisticated security needs, including secure and separate computer network access, specific protocols, security levels and access rights. Regular compliance and security audits conducted for all our engagements have demonstrated Luxoft’s readiness and commitment to meet these requirements. Achieving ISO 27001:2005 certification is another way to recognize the level of security we provide to our clients, and the maturity of our business processes,” says Dmitry Loschinin, President and CEO, Luxoft. “This certification extends the foundation we’ve built by being the first company in Europe to achieve Level 5 CMMI quality certification.”
ISO 27001:2005 certification is a critical relationship factor for all Luxoft clients, and especially to global industry leaders such as IBM, which has benefited from its five-year relationship with Luxoft. “Luxoft's ISO certification and its use of top industry-standard security controls is of tremendous value,” said Tom Jarosh, Vice President Operations, IBM Systems and Technology Group. “Luxoft’s track record and commitment to compliance is an important basis for our relationship.”
Reinforcing its commitment to security, Luxoft also announced the appointment of Ivan Gavrilyuk as the company’s first Chief Security Officer (CSO). As Luxoft’s CSO, Gavrilyuk will coordinate, establish and maintain security procedures for all Luxoft clients at all development centers, participate in conducting security audits, and ensure that Luxoft maintains its certification. Since joining the company in 2002, Gavrilyuk served as CIO, responsible for establishing the IT infrastructure for all company’s offices, managing over 300 servers in 6 locations, and rolling out a Help Desk function that is capable now to resolve over 10,000 requests annually. Under Gavrilyuk, Luxoft’s seven Delivery Centers were regularly audited and received the highest marks from its customers.
“Security is increasingly important to our customer base. We have invested significant resources to develop, maintain and enhance policies that ensure physical and IT security for our clients, and Ivan’s experience, commitment and leadership as CIO contributed to this initiative,” Loschinin said. “This certification is an additional benefit to the clients we’ve added through the ITCI acquisition.”
