Sunnyvale, Calif. – (November 6, 2013) – Spirent Communications, the leader in networks, devices and services testing and Luxoft, a provider of software development solutions and services, announced the industry’s first open and extensible OpenFlow Compliance Testing solution. This joint solution helps to automate QA and regression testing for OpenFlow products. It will be demonstrated during the fourth semi-annual ONF Plugfest being hosted at the Spirent Proof of Concept (SPOC) lab in Sunnyvale, CA, November 4-8, 2013.
The solution suite meets the needs of companies preparing for ONF certification and software engineering teams looking for improved engineering efficiency in OpenFlow software development. It includes the following components:
“The industry is really starting to embrace SDN, and OpenFlow 1.3 is one of the key enabling technologies for many applications. However, true implementation of this new specification results in higher complexity and we recognized the need for a robust, professionally supported testing environment specifically targeted at OpenFlow and SDN developers,” said Vasiliy Suvorov, vice president, Technology Strategy at Luxoft. “We are very excited about the joint go-to-market opportunity with Spirent and are looking forward to further leverage each other’s strengths to help bring OpenFlow and SDN devices and systems to the market.”
“ONF members are making significant strides in OpenFlow, helping manufacturers prepare to certify their products as OpenFlow conformant,” said Dan Pitt, executive director at the Open Networking Foundation. “We look forward to seeing innovations in action at the ONF PlugFest, where companies from around the world gather to test, deploy and develop open conformance standards, working collaboratively toward benchmarking and interoperability.”
“Combining automated testing using iTest with the OpenFlow 1.3 compliance testing of Luxoft Twister allows us to meet the design and development timelines of OpenFlow and SDN vendor customers,” said Angus Robertson, Senior Director of Marketing, Networks & Applications Group at Spirent Communications. “Spirent is once again taking the lead in helping customers understand the intricate set of factors along the virtual technology chain that can impact scale and performance.”
