July 13, 2021 — Today, DXC Luxoft announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) to accelerate the autonomous driving (AD) industry with DXC Luxoft’s Robotic Drive Cloud offering on AWS. The Robotic Drive tooling and services, available and in-use today, provides reduced development and test times with unmatched total cost of ownership (TCO) to customers building AD systems. The new relationship offers a tangible competitive advantage to customers by accelerating the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and AD.
“Creating this relationship will help our mutual customers accelerate their ADAS/AD programs while increasing flexibility and optimizing cost,” said Luz G. Mauch, executive vice president for Automotive at DXC Luxoft. “Together with AWS, we are moving toward a cloud offering called the Robotic Drive Cloud where customers can scale their demand for IT services based on their individual ADAS/AD project requirements.”
The Robotic Drive Cloud offering brings together the production–ready Robotic Drive services, toolchain, and platform leveraged at BMW and other OEMs for Autonomous Development into a novel, cloud-based approach for automotive customers. The automotive expertise from both AWS and DXC Luxoft will provide a safe integration and transformation of the customers’ toolchains, technologies and processes.
DXC Luxoft’s Robotic Drive solution on AWS will extensively leverage several native services for different components catering to various use cases for ADAS application workloads. Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) will house a data lake, managing hundreds of petabytes of automotive datasets. Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) will function as the containerized compute backend, supporting some of the most compute extensive workloads around simulation, machine learning of the driving behavior algorithms, reprocessing, and sensor data analysis at scale. Additionally, AWS CloudFormation will help create the automation blueprint for the native services and applications, while AWS CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodeCommit will bring increased productivity to the DevOps process.
Already, some key Robotic Drive Cloud use cases, such as Data Ingest, Elastic Cloud Bursting for AD Simulations, Lidar Perception management and others have been successfully deployed in productive client environments and have received positive feedback.
“Collaborating with a recognized industry leader like DXC Luxoft enhances our ability to meet the needs of our automotive customers, leveraging specific industry experience with AD/ADAS data–driven development platforms and services,” said Wendy Bauer, director of Automotive Sales, AWS. “Together, we’re enabling the automotive industry to safely accelerate development and time to market for Autonomous driving systems.”
